Notice of Board of Directors Vacancies
The Queets Clearwater School District currently has three open positions on its Board of Directors.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must:
• Reside within the Queets Clearwater School District
• Be a U.S. citizen
• Be a registered voter in Jefferson County
Desired Qualifications
The District seeks candidates who are:
• Active participants in the Queets Clearwater community and schools
• Open-minded and possesses strong critical thinking skills
• Supportive of public education in Clearwater and surrounding areas
• Experienced in collaborative board or committee work
• Effective team players and communicators
• Knowledgeable about, or interested in, legislative and educational issues
Expectations of Board Members
Elected members must become familiar with and uphold:
• The District’s Mission, Vision, Beliefs, and 2025–26 Board Goals
• Board policies and Washington State laws governing school boards, including:
o Policy 1600–1630 (Code of Ethics, Conflicts of Interest, Board-Superintendent Relationship, Superintendent Evaluation)
o Policy 1114 (Board Member Resignation and Vacancies)
o RCWs 28A.343.320–370, 42.17A, 42.23, and 42.30.110
o WAC 390.24.010 (Personal Financial Affairs Statement — Form F-1)
Application Timeline
• Now – Applications available at the District Office or by contacting Mel Houtz at mhoutz@qcsd20.org or 360-962-2395
• December 2, 2025 (by 3:00 p.m.) – Application deadline
• December 16, 2025 – Special Board Meeting (executive session to review applicants; if more than 5 applicants, finalists will be selected for interviews)
• December 17, 2025 – Finalist interviews with Superintendent and Board Chair
• January 20, 2026 – First official meeting and Oath of Office for the newly appointed members

Friendly reminder,
The Queets Tigers boys & girls basketball teams will be having a bingo this Sunday November 16th at 4pm at the Queets Gym. All proceeds will be used to ensure the children eat together as a team after away games.
Also, the game on Monday has been switched from home to away at MMK, 5:30 pm & 7:00 pm.
As the weather changes and it gets darker, please remember to stop for the flashing red lights on the Bus! It is ok to drive Through the amber lights (but just know if the amber lights come on the red lights are soon to follow) Please use caution and keep our kid safe.
🏀 Boys & Girls Middle School Basketball Practice begins tomorrow Monday November 3rd. Practice will be after school from 3:00 to 4:30.
Friendly reminder: Monday November 3rd is PICTURE DAY! 8:30 AM. Send your student dressed in the choosen outfit and ready to smile!

Parents: We are leaving from eating at the pizza place soon. We are going to drop students off at home early. Kids are wet and cold. If you have any queations please call Mr. Houtz at the school.
Parents we are still planning on attending our planned field trip to the Pumpkin Patch. Make sure you wear appropriate attire for the weather.
Mr. Houtz will pick up all Flag Football players at the Queets Store at 2 PM. Please make sure they have all their gear. Dress warm and bring extra clothes.
